Camden LGBT Forum / Camden and Islington LGBT History Month 2019

http://www.gayindex.co.uk/cgi-bin/rssrd.cgi?id=204&cid=60

Camden LGBT Forum is an independent registered charity supporting victims of hate crime and celebrating local talent. We have projects to get local LGBT people back into work, run a group to get young people speaking in public and operate a safe havens scheme for victims of abuse. We have run a History Month locally for 8 years and this is the fourth in partnership with Islington Council. It is created from the inspiration of the national LGBT History Month campaign and is widely regarded as one of the world's most successful local LGBT events.
The London Boroughs of Camden and Islington are to host the world's largest program for LGBT History Month throughout February 2014. The program is put together by Camden LGBT Forum with the support of Camden and Islington Councils and a team of highly dedicated volunteers. This month is about celebrating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans histories. The theme is music but events cross genres of film, poetry, science, biography and art.

The program has more than 50 events and most of them are free to attend. Highlights will include our Loudest Whispers VI, one of the largest outsider art projects in the UK featuring over 30 new and local LGBT artists. We will be entertained through films about our queer music heritage at the British Museum and we will explore old and new with a concert by Transpose featuring music by Tchaikovsky, a gay man whose heritage is being washed out by powerful figures in Russia. In Islington we will host events dedicated to the life of Magnus Hirschfeld, one of our movement's founding fathers, and enjoy a discussion on music criticism with one of the world's top critics, Professor Bryce Morrison. And don't forget our closing night extravaganza, 'The Glamour Factory' at the Camden Centre on the 28th.

Very useful resource with lots of news, support network information, local scene information etc
The Suffolk LGBT Network was founded in 1988, and evolved from the Suffolk Gay and Lesbian Helpline in 2010. Our organisation is part of the long tradition of self-help within the LGBT Community. Suffolk LGBT Network is just one of the many LGBT resources that have been established to meet the differing needs of the community.

Each year, we have contact with many people, ranging from those who are deeply unhappy with their present situation, through to parents who are worried about the future of their gay or lesbian child's future.
Other callers want to know where to meet other LGBT people while they are in Suffolk or travelling away.
All our volunteers are gay, lesbian, or bisexual and are trained in helpline counselling. This involves listening, giving information and utilising our own knowledge of the LGBT community.
